Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan sign founding agreement for ‘Green Corridor’ project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 December 2024, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan signed a founding agreement to implement the joint project "Green Corridor."

The agreement, which was signed by the heads of state of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan on 13 November 2024, was followed by a founding agreement between the system operators of the three countries.

Uzbekistan is represented in the project by the joint-stock company "Uzbekenergo," Kazakhstan by the joint-stock company KEGOC, and Azerbaijan by the joint-stock company Azerenerji.

The "Green Corridor" project aims to enhance trade opportunities in light of new European Union initiatives, such as the "Green Deal."

The implementation of this project will strengthen the stability of the energy systems of the three countries and significantly contribute to their environmental goals by reducing greenhouse gas emissions through "green" investments.

The parties have agreed to establish a joint venture to carry out the project in Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital. Consulting company CESI will participate in preparing the project’s technical and economic feasibility study.
