Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Washington, during the annual Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov met with President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Masatsugu Asakawa.
The main topics of discussion included ongoing joint projects and prospects for cooperation in implementing key initiatives aimed at infrastructure development in Uzbekistan, effective water resource management, and promoting sustainable development.
During the meeting, an agreement was signed to finance the "Climate-Resilient Water Resources Management Development Project" with ADB. The total project cost is US$143 million, of which US$125 million will be provided by ADB as a loan.
The project is aimed at modernizing the water supply and sanitation systems, introducing modern climate-resilient technologies to improve water resource management, and enhancing the infrastructure’s resilience to climate change.
